Great Skimmer May 23, 2020
I've been running this skimmer for about a year now and very pleased with the performance. I've been in this hobby over 30 years and this is the best one I've found by far and I have tried plenty of them. What I like is how easy it is to clean and makes me want to clean it more often. It does fill up the large collection cup in 7 to 10 days and I have a lightly stocked tank. You will not be sorry, believe me. Nitrates and Phosphates have been at zero every time I check them. Now I'm trying to get them up just a tad more for the coral's sake.

I purchased my 240DC back in January have been more than happy with it. I did take about 2 weeks to fully break in but once it did it worked great. As mentioned in the other review its nice and easy to disassemble and clean and the pump is nice and quiet which was a factor for me. Back when I was researching skimmers I was considering a couple other popular models till I read some positive comments on the simplicity skimmers and for the price I figured I would try one out.
It has lived up to my expectations and for the price you just can't go wrong. The build quality is good and it performs, as mentioned it did take a little longer to break in but I've been more than happy. I do want to make an important note about how great simplicity's customer support is. When I contacted them I got a reply shortly after and they were more than helpful. I could tell they stand behind their products and want they're customers to be happy with their purchase. And that is something I value a lot when considering a purchase. So if you are considering one go for it.

Great skimmer for the$$$$ Feb 8, 2017
I took a chance and bought this skimmer over a year ago without much knowledge about it. I wanted to try a D.C. Powered pump skimmer. I have to say that I haven't been disappointed. The build quality is top notch, the pump is almost silent, and this thing pulls some serious air into it almost silently. I have been in the hobby for 15 years and had a lot of different skimmers over the years. This one sits #1 on my list of them. Can't recommend it enough.
Excellent build quality, Nov 16, 2015
The Simplicity 240DC Skimmer just arrived today. I must say I am very impressed with the build quality! Super quiet, compact size with a HUGE collection cup. I am Very happy with it so far. I am I'm the process of upgrading and stream lining at 75 gallon mixed reef and this is replacing a Bulky and HUGE reef octopus recirculating skimmer that was WAY oversized for my tank and my sump although it did a great job. I have always been a Reef Octopus fan but their was no room for any other equipment in my sump. It was almost impossible to get inside the cone to clean, It was over 20" high so placing it in sump and removing the collection cup was a chore.
This skimmer can be easily totally dissembled for cleaning in under 3 minutes, air inlet screw to reduce intake easily if needed, uses less wattage and pushes out the same if not more bubbles than my old skimmer. I was concerned being the fact I have never seen this brand of skimmer but I decided to take the risk. I am EXTREMELY GLAD that I did. Maintenance will be much easier. And lets admit if something is easier to do we are more prone to ACTUALLY do it than to put it off. If you are on the fence about buying this one, go ahead and jump. I think you will be just as impressed as I am.
