Great pump with some modification Jan 17, 2020
Purchased this pump for additional circulation in a heavily planted 29 gallon tank. Additional flow was perfect but it would constantly suck detritus and plant leaves into it causeing it to slow and often become loud from vibration. Problem was solved by cutting a 1/4" thick piece of foam used for air conditioning units measured to fit around circumference of the pump leaving 1/4" at the front a d back of the pump exposed.I then superglue gel a seam on one edge 1/4" wide. After it dries turn it inside out and fit over the pump with the seam along the nonvented edge. Super quiet now and I just rinse this diy prefilter once a week. This will work for most circulation pumps as well to help protect anemone tentacles as well.
