These snails are small almost round looking snails, about the size of a pea. They are the new talk of the town, since an article was published about them in Aquarium Frontier Magazine. They burrow in the sand and eat all kinds of detritus. They are more of a scavenger then an algae eater, many people are using these snails to replace the use of hermit crabs in the reef tank. Since the name is hard to pronounce feel free to ask for sandbugs. Recommend 1 to 2 gallons with hermits, 1 to 1 without hermits.

These are neat little snails that come running when they smell food. They do a great job of cleaning uneaten food out of the sand. Because of their small size, it is easy for them to get stuck in a screened powerhead, so I recommend sponge covers!

Very helpful cleanup crew critters! And it's so cute when they all come up out of the sandbed at the same time-- right at feeding time.
