A built-in overflow is the most efficient method of draining aquarium water to a filter. If your aquarium does not have built-in overflow, CPR Continuous Siphon Overflows/Prefilters are the best means for getting water from an aquarium to a filter system without expensive modifications to the tank. They quietly skim up to six times more water than units with tubes.
The advantages of CPR Continuous Siphon Overflows/Prefilters include:
* Adjustable water level allows you to
easily change the level in your tank.
* Black top reduces algae growth.
* Quiet operation.
* CS Overflows now feature a grated inlet instead of the fish screen previously included.

decent overflow, but not for if you plan on using a wave maker.Dec 6, 2014
Works as advertised. I like the fact that you have the aqualifter to keep the siphon going and this makes it very easy to restart the overflow. However, If you have a wave maker this type of overflow does not like the constant changing water levels from the wave maker. The aqualifter stopped working. I had to unhook the tubing to clear it out and get it to start working again. Also, if you like to keep your water level lower for a safety margin or the use of a wave maker, It did not lower enough for my 125g tank. I had to cut slots into the overflow box so that a constant flow of water was entering the overflow. It is working but I am not sure that this is going to be the right solution for my setup.
