(03/13/2008) - overall it's a loud, cheap pump that runs hot... i have already retired one of these to salt mixing duties which it excels at- there's no need to put an extra heater in since the pump runs so hot... the one i'm using for a return pump will soon be replaced with an eheim... i cant stand the constant humming that comes from this pump anymore... you get what you pay for here folks... save yourself some frustration and go german (eheim)
(01/25/2006) - I use one of these for my protein skimmer and one to drain the water off my in-ground swimming pool cover. These pumps are so tough that I switched the one on my protein skimmer with the one used for the pool cover. The one used on the pool had remained submersed in pool cover water, completely frozen for weeks on end for many winter seasons now. It never failed to work after it thawed out, and it has now been promoted to running my protein skimmer - now that's a tough pump! It has performed flawlessly, always starting, and rarely needing to be cleaned, no noise and very impact resistant.
(06/01/2004) - I agree with Gregory on the suction cup comment, though a great and moderately quiet pump.
(06/01/2004) - Nice pump but it would be nice to have included suction cups to attach to the mounting fram of the pump.
(06/01/2004) - Good pump but was noisier than expected--no suction cups came with plate--addapted RIO suction cups. 1/2" discharge was supprising for a 700GPH pump.
(06/01/2004) - Good pump after initial problem with it. It was very noisy at first. I had to take it apart and cut down some manufacturing immperfections in the plastic that the impeller was wearing on. Quieted down real good after that. No leaks on my first pump. I will probably continue to use this pump as it is nice and small and provides the flow that I really need.
