Clibinarius digueti: No matter how you look at it, this is the best reef hermit for the money. From the Sea of Cortez, this hardy and very active hermit truly is an algae grazing hermit. It has a dark scarlet body with blue spotted red tipped legs. Also known as the Reef Janitor or Mexican red leg. Average length 1.00". These guys will eat diatom, hair, detritus, and **EAT** red slime. These guys are a little more aggressive hermit then scarlets, but not as bad as the blue legs. Recommend 1 per 2 gallons, up to 1 to 1 for major algae problems.

(12/14/2008) - Started cleaning and eating the moment they hit the bottom... havent stopped. Little eating machines!
(10/15/2005) - These suckers are great. They are constantly eating and are a great size for a nano tank. I want to get more!
(06/01/2004) - recived these crabs today 6-11-03 and after addition to tank they went right to work they do not appear to be aggressive
(06/01/2004) - I lost a ton of live stock due to a 14-hour power outage in the summer of 2001. This included the bulk of my algae eaters. (Yes, I now have battery-operated back-up pumps) My tank was soon overrun with hair algae. I tried going the crabless route at first opting to go with Cerith snails, but they did not control the hair algae at all. Finally I went the the Baha Red legs- 1 per gallon. These crabs in addition to nutrient control measures, cutting back the lighting hours, and frequent water changes where I siphoned hair algae off the rocks, have rid my tank of this offensive algae. My only complaint is that the majority of my Cerith snails have been turned into escargot.
(06/01/2004) - A good compromise, they are fast moving, good cleaners that seem to avoid my coral and pretty much leave all other inverts alone.
(06/01/2004) - Arrived very healthy and started grazing as soon as they left the shipping bag. Very energetic. I would guess about 4 times more movement than my blue legged hermits. Great!
(06/01/2004) - Very very recommend.... very very active!!!
(06/01/2004) - One of the best hermits I've had. Not aggressive, all they want to do is clean. Most bang for your buck.
(06/01/2004) - Much, much better than the blue-legs I've used previously.
(06/01/2004) - These guys are the best hermits I have found. They are great at eating all types of algae and don't seem to be too aggresive. Recomended!
