These snails are small almost round looking snails, about the size of a pea. They are the new talk of the town, since an article was published about them in Aquarium Frontier Magazine. They burrow in the sand and eat all kinds of detritus. They are more of a scavenger then an algae eater, many people are using these snails to replace the use of hermit crabs in the reef tank. Since the name is hard to pronounce feel free to ask for sandbugs. Recommend 1 to 2 gallons with hermits, 1 to 1 without hermits.

(06/17/2008) - these are such cool snails! i have never seen such an active snail before the instant i put them in the tank they were moving around like crazy and began eating the algae i only got a few just to try them out but now i will definatly purchase more of them
(06/09/2007) - Ok. SO the little ones are cool and do their job, but if you're lucky enough to visit P.A. in person and handpick these guys, get the BIG ones. They are amazing! Not only do they have an appetite outta this world and keep the sand extremely clean, they are very very very cool to watch. Mine mostly come out at night or during the day when the tank gets fed. When they hit the glass u'll see the long streamers behind them. I love these snails. Way Cool!
(06/01/2004) - Recived sandbugs today 6-11-03 after additon to tank they went right to work extremely satisfied with these little guys
(06/01/2004) - Very helpful cleanup crew critters! And it's so cute when they all come up out of the sandbed at the same time-- right at feeding time.
(06/01/2004) - These guys went right to work, and the dry ship acclimation is the best.
(06/01/2004) - These are too cute. They love food and pop up from the sand as soon as they smell it. Very entertaining snail!
(06/01/2004) - If there is a Drag Race underworld....this guy should be the winner! record is 48" in 60 second !!
(06/01/2004) - Fantastic snails! Very fast, very active. I'm not sure I'd replace hermits entirely, but I'd definately want a bunch of these in any tank. I think mine were breeding almost as soon as they hit the water, too.
(06/01/2004) - I could not believe how fast these little guys can go! They bury themselve in the substrate with their little snorkel poking out. When food drops, they come screaming out of the sand! Totally fun to watch and they're fantastic scavengers. I'll be getting rid of my hermits and buying more of these guys!
(06/01/2004) - These little bugs are awesome! I would recommend then for any size tank.
(06/01/2004) - Just received my shipment of sandbugs. These little guys are remarkable. Highly recommend inclusion in tank, even if you have hermit crabs. Little workaholics.
(06/01/2004) - Great sand stirrer, and overall inverts! very small, so the more the merrier! good at eatting left-overs! excellent snails, but may need halp of hermits forreal messy tanks!
(06/01/2004) - Very odd and interesting, i recommened them to anybody! (though prone to get stuck in very very odd places {between tank/thermometer})
(06/01/2004) - These are neat little snails that come running when they smell food. They do a great job of cleaning uneaten food out of the sand. Because of their small size, it is easy for them to get stuck in a screened powerhead, so I recommend sponge covers!
(06/01/2004) - A good scavenger and sand- stirrer. Most of my snails are laying eggs; the glass is always spotted with them. (fresh food for my percs!)
(06/01/2004) - These guys not only do a great job on cleaning up extra food and such, but they are even interesting to watch - the snail acrobats of the reef tank world!
(06/01/2004) - I love these guys. Hiding in the substrate until they smell food. I saw one eat a frozen bloodshrimp whole when he got it's mouth on it. Amazing snail. I may be getting more in the near future.
(06/01/2004) - Very active and interesting snails. They are not as active at cleaning as crabs. I would not recommend replacing crabs with these snails but recommend adding these as well.
