(03/23/2006) - Had this thing for 2 years now, has pulled nasty funk from day one. On a 90 gal system. Took a day or two to get a good dry foam, but since then, just drain out the collection cup and wipe it down every few days is all it needs. Less than 5 minutes maintenece a week.
(06/01/2004) - Forgot to add the rating.
(06/01/2004) - Can't say enough about it. A drop in, plug it in skimmer. Nothing to adjust but the collection cup for the quality of (dryness) foam you want. I had trouble with mine, not removing much waste. The people at AquaC immediately sent me a replacement. Can't say enough of them either.
(06/01/2004) - I can't say enough good things about this skimmer. I had a Berlin skimmer and was having a hard time adjusting the venturi valve to get any foam at all. This skimmer is easy to adjust, just move the rubber ring up or down on the collection cup. I don't reccommend leaving it on the lowest setting though... you'll have to empty the cup 2 or more times a day if you do... move it up a bit and you get lots of high quality foam that doesn't fill up the cup TOO fast.
If they had a 6 star rating, I'd use it.
(06/01/2004) - I just recently got this skimmer and its great!!! This skimmer makes foam like its going out fashsion I reccomend this skimmer to any one with a small sump!
(08/22/2007) - I have had this running in my 45gal for over a year now and have not had a single problem. I did try several different pumps to figure out which is best. It's slim profile allows a perfect fitting into my overflow chamber since I didn't want any visible component other than the tank itself.
(09/21/2006) - Great for nano sumps like mine. Very small footprint. It produces lots of skimmate compared to my old venturi style skimmer. The best feature of all is there is no tinkering with air valves or efluent pipes to get it tweaked just right. Just plug it in and it is ready to go. I also like how it is a dark acrylic. You can't see all the gunk buildup inside. This skimmer is perfect for tanks under 40 gallons and under. Definately go with the Maxijet 1200 upgrade.
(10/16/2005) - This is an awesome skimmer.
No stupid plastic screws. It is quiet and very easy to adjust. I have had mine for over one year - no problems. Easy to clean. My next tank will have a Remora.
(06/01/2004) - couldn't wish for a better skimmer for this price. it pumps out about 3oz. of gunk a day from my 55g. tank ( with a Rio800). Very efficient, quite and well thought out.
(06/01/2004) - This skimmer is really compact and quiet. I bought the upgraded Maxi-jet pump with the skimmer, and it makes all the difference in the world. My sump is a thin-line CPR, and it's only about 9 1/2 inches wide where I had to put the skimmer, and it fits perfectly. I empty about 2 oz of brown liquid from the cup every day. If I was going to criticize this thing in any way, it would be that the pump output nozzle is just slightly too small for the uptake hose to the skimmer. I had to use a zip-tie to make the connection secure. I also wish it came with better instructions. The ones from AquaC are almost worthless.
