(08/16/2008) - Great skimmer right out of the box!! Have had it running 1 week and results are GREAT....will use this one on my next tank
(06/11/2008) - When I received my Remora Pro, I read the directions, which said the unit may not start producing any waste for a couple of weeks. I washed it out with warm water and hung it on the tank (it was that simple). I was shocked when a few HOURS later (not weeks) I had brown disgusting stuff collecting in the cup. It significantly improved my water quality and I'm very happy with it. I'll have to admit, it took me a while to get used to the noise from the injector/bubbles.
(08/25/2005) - great customer support mine had issues though
(05/11/2005) - This skimmer is very powerful and very quiet. I suggest the skimmer box be used with the unit. For it's size and water flow, this skimmer seems to truly be far more efficient than many other brands. Definitely use the Mag 3 with it.
(06/01/2004) - GREAT UNIT!!! I use this skimmer on a 65g and I'm glad I upgraded to the PRO. I also upgraded to the Mag 3 pump which I recommend after reading poor reviews of Rio's on the web. The prefilter box is a MUST if you want to keep the "oil-slick" on top of your water under control. Premium Aquatics gave me the BEST & lowest price I could find anywhere. The only problem I had originally was that AquaC only included one hose clamp with the unit. I emailed Jason (the president of AquaC) and he sent me off a couple extras. I recently emailed him again, and AquaC is now including the extra clamp in all that they are shipping.
(06/01/2004) - The Remora Pro is alot quiter than the regular Remora that I bought (its in the process of being exchanged as it is defective* (Jason Frey of Premium Aquatics is a real champ)Does a good job of cleaning. It should come with a longer connecting tube for the motor as I did have to change it has I also use the skimmer box.
(04/26/2008) - Let's see, 2 previous reviews that both had to have parts replaced just to get it to work? How does that get 5 stars? I tried using a Remora Pro for about 6 months. I tried leaving it alone, cleaning it, adjusting the cup height, pump height, everything I could think of short of modifying the skimmer. In the entire 2 months it may have filled the collection cup twice if that. I've tried it with and without the pre-filter box. For $280 you can install a sump and use a real skimmer or install an external skimmer on a shelf and have MUCH better results than any HOB skimmer. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the headache. I will never recommend a Remora to anyone as it was to me.
(02/15/2008) - I had to replace the mag350 because of excessive noise but the skimmer is great and the new mag is quiet as can be. I recommend this set up. It is just to bad that the pump had to be replaced. It was faulty from the start though from the first time i plugged it in.
(02/04/2007) - Nice skimmer. I have MAG350 pump upgrade on 75g tank and it works great and is easy to clean. Great customer service, I needed a new plug for the spray induction tube. I sent them a e-mail,they replied the same day and sent me 3 of them at n/c. Highly recommend if you want hang on tank skimmer.
(04/28/2009) - This skimmer is doing excellent spite some of the bad reviews you find. Which you can find bad reviews just about on every skimmer. . . Suggested break in time is 2 weeks but after just 1 week of playin with it I got some black stuff already building up. Very simple setup. Looking for a good HOB skimmer definately the one to get!
(06/09/2007) - i have installed on my 75 gal. reef. been running for 3 months. pulls gobs of wastes from tank. easy to set-up, mantain, adjust. i would highly recomend to someone like myself who thinks quality/economy in the same package. best feature for me? the drain for collection cup. with busy schedule i never have to worry about overflows on hardwood floors. love that....
(02/06/2007) - The skimmer fits very easily onto my 12g Aquapod tank(The tank has an open top). After the intial break-in period of ~ a week it has become very quiet and it pulls out quite an impressive amount of waste. I am very happy with the skimmer and the advice I got from Premium Aquatics.
(01/24/2005) - zi have it for 1 year now and it works really fine! I have a 75 gallon reef tank and it does a hell of a job!
(12/22/2004) - I've used a lot a skimmers over the past 20 years, but the Remora is clearly the best. No clogged venturi valves, no broken needle wheels, and no finicky adjustments. It puts out tons of dry black/green foam when others sit there and do nothing. Mine has been in operation now for 3 years and I never cleaned it. Still working like the day I bought it.
I got mine originally with the RIO 800 pump, which I've sinced replaced with an Eheim compact 1000. I'm sure the maxijet is just as good.
(09/29/2004) - I am new to the hobby and did not want a unit that I would have to tinker with. This works great and could not be easier to use. I went with the MJ1200 which is a nice pump.
(06/01/2004) - For the price this is a unbeatable skimmer. Be sure to get the proper pump!
(06/01/2004) - I would reccomend this skimmer to anyone. It was beyond simple to add to my system. The great thing about this hang-on is that it can hardly be seen above my hood unlike many others I looked at prior to purchase.
(06/01/2004) - Got the Remora HOT and skimmer box. The Remora HOT during the first week was very noisey. I emailed the owner of Aqua C he immediately replied. After a week it became less loud. However it does a great job in skimming. The pre-skimmer box is a great idea, however the divider bar keeps it from meeting the surface and stays submerged about 3/4'. 4 stars for the Remora HOT, 5 stars for the owner and 2 stars for the skimmer box. Oh yes, 5 stars for Preminum Aquatics-super service!!!
(06/01/2004) - Virtually problem free. My Aqua-C keeps my 55 gallon tank clean.
You will be surprised by how much gunk and dissolved organic waste
this protein skimmer removes.

(06/01/2004) - Great product!
After placing the protein skimmer into the water, it immediatly started to pull brown gunk into the collection cup. I have a 75 gallon aquarium, the max size the makers say, but judging by the power this little thing has, it could do a whole lot more! Great for cycling new tanks.
